Call me old school, but I’m still amazed at how quick it is to publish now. In the old days, I’d send photos to a magazine several weeks before it is out in the newstands. For a breaking story for a broadsheet, you’d have to meet a 10pm deadline before the press run, in time for the newspaper to be out early the next morning.
Today, my editor messages me asking for a photo of PBA players at the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas scrimmage that I shot the other day. I’m at a coffee shop with my laptop; it takes me a few minutes to find the photo, post-process it in Photoshop, and email it to my editor.
Quicker than lightning (mabilis pa sa kidlat), the photo is published on the internet.
